I found and bought this bug. It had some rear and front body damage, needed a lot of general work, so now I am heading down the path of Baja bugging it.

Fence to keep out the bad guys.

Part of the delay on working on the bug. Took about 2 days to get this done in mid-June. Am I stupid or what? 93+ degree days, humidity at 90%. LOL.

This took two weekends of part time work. Sits about 8 feet up, plenty of air and work space.

Deck cover.

Deck cover on. I put this even with the window lower edge. Three sheet metal screws hold it for now. I may move it a bit lower to line up with rear fender edges.

Mounting Rear Fender

I simply drew some lines out from the existing nut plates, held the fender in place and marked it in one spot. I was lucky, it lined up with the little dimple in the fiberglass fender. I drilled an over-sized hole (not too big, but you don't want the bolt putting any stress on the hole as this may cause cracking). Bolted it in place, positioned and marked for all other holes. Easy and no need to try to shine light from behind.

You can see that the two parts don't quite line up perfectly. I will move the deck cover down a wee bit (maybe, it is not that bad looking). I need to work the sheet metal a bit as it was distorted quite a bit from a rear-end (or the kid who I bought it from backed into something/someone).
